Gather the Women at the Crossings

Some of my beloved blogfriends have recently been questioned, or are questioning, whether or not they get to be/should be called "feminist" because of what the word connotes. I'm pretty comfortable with the label myself.

Until I see something like this and think I'd rather eat glass than join the festivities.

heh. Why does it SCREAM 'buy me!' 'buy me!' as if the thing was designed by a make.money.fast.on.the.web now now now marketer?

the selections at the bottom and the corresponding icons immediately made me think that each was going to lead to a store! It's all displayed like merchandise.

p.s. my father, to make a buck, would actually bet people he'd eat a glass. and he did. :)

It's not really feminism, I think, but exemplifies problems with the Democrat's foreign policy stance. I think it's time for something with more teeth in it. I'm "for" peace but also "for" a foreign policy that takes a stand on terrorism.

First, it does seem so salesy. In addition to the fact that the event itself seems appalling, I feel a bit Amwayed by it.

Second, Bitch, your father amazes me. I've actually never tried it. Like many things that sounds bad, it's possible it's simply not nearly as bad as it sounds.

Third, Mamacita (good to see you here, btw), I know this isn't feminist per-se, but I think it resonates with what many people think of when they think of feminism who have only a passing acquaintance with it. That's why I lumped it in. That, and the fact that I don't love all women obviously, because I wouldn't want to spend 10 minutes with any of those women. I am selective in my love of women, so I would certainly be ripped down a peg by certain Arbiters of Feminism.

well, don't try it. he has five ulcers. i wouldn't be surprised if it was partly caused by that. he just did it because he loved taking people for money -- and he needed money. my dad's pride and sense of being anything in the world was totally invested in being a father and provider. if he couldn't do it on th epay he made, he was going to do it somehow.

    no but see we're WOMEN.
    who like PINK.
and when you're a feminist everything is in SOFT FOCUS, just like all of our relationships, which are fuzzy and warm and sweet.
    you know...
    cause of the PINK.

i am so frickin' tired of pink.

Nothin' wrong with pink, or commerce either, in the right places. But I'll tell you, this doesn't make me feel respected. Condoleeza Rice looks and acts like she's running off to save the free world, and our side's got...Barbie pinks? Something seems wrong with that.
