aiyiyiyiyiyi. I'd have to go look up the quote, but I think I did a little research on it to satisfy a derogatory conversation about that quote and I found that she never meant it quite that way.But even if she did, aiyiyiyiyiyiyi, this is the kind of crap that undergirded claims about not understanding why feminist authors were hard to read in grad school. They were using the master's tools! It used to drive me buggy. I'd read so much philosophy as a kid, before I could go to "Real School" (tm) and then, in "Real School" I ended up reading a lot of philosohpy -- and reading a lot of original sources to begin with b/c that was the nature of the school -- that it wasn't that it was purposefull hard and turgid prose, it was just material with which people were unfamiliar.I don't get why a feminist academic is expected to write for a mainstream audience and outside her discipline and speciality.
PS == are you in a Cult Studies program? You may want to write offblog, but I am shocked at the thread on how horrible cultural studies is. Good grief!
No - English. Not that that's not fucked up in its ways.
